First public prototype, short and long term plans


Welcome to the wonky devlog of this wonky game. The first public version only has a very small set of features:

  • 2 players with keyboard controls
    • Red player: WASD + E to place objects
    • Green player: numpad 8426 + 5 to place objects
  • Randomly appearing diamonds that can be picked up (this is the primary objective)
  • Boxes that contain placeable objects
    • Spinning saw blade (hazard)
  • One level with fixed player spawn points with safe zones
  • Quick restart button (shift + R)

Planned features:

  • Scores/stats counting diamond pickups, deaths / kills for each players
  • Support for 4 players (possibly in a drop-in / drop-out manner)
  • Configurable controls (including  controller support)
  • More placeable objects (flamethrowers, moving blades, girders, bombs, cannons, et cetera - feel free to suggest stuff!)
  • More levels (with different themes)
  • Music & sound effects (of course)

Features that might or might not make it to the game (your input is welcome!):

  • combos / streaks with possible buffs/debuffs (eg. 5 kills in a row without dying = additional placable object)
  • object inventory (instead of compulsory placement of objects right after pick-up, players can hoard objects and place them at a chosen time or at their death)
  • marked boxes (so players can know which box holds which object)
  • guns
